Man jailed for 13 years for non recent sexual abuse

21 Dec 2017

A man has been jailed for 13 years for sexually abusing a young girl in the 1980s and 1990s.

Thomas Kennedy, 63, of Churchfield Road, Houghton Regis, pleaded guilty to a total of seven counts of non-recent indecent abuse and was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Tuesday (19 December).

Detective Constable Martin Hart, from the Bedfordshire Police child and adult vulnerable abuse unit, said: “Kennedy tormented his young victim with a sickening reign of sexual abuse against her over a period of years, and I believe the length of the sentence handed out reflects the severity of his actions.

“This case is yet another example of how committed our force is to tackling child sexual abuse and bringing perpetrators to justice, and I'd like to thank all officers involved in the case."

“No matter how long ago the abuse took place, we will always follow every line of enquiry to prosecute offenders, while providing full support to victims."
