Sex offender jailed after more indecent images are found on his computer

23 Nov 2017

A registered sex offender has been jailed for 15 months, after we found further indecent images of children on his computer.

Keith Clark, 61, of Staploe, St Neots, was serving a suspended sentence of 11 months and had been placed on the Sex Offender’s Register, after he was convicted of making and possessing more than 2,000 indecent images of children in March 2017.

Just two months later, Bedfordshire Police received information that Clark may have again been committing online child sex offences.

A warrant was executed and a number of devices were seized. A search of the devices found multiple indecent images of children and Clark was subsequently arrested and charged.

Yesterday (Wednesday) he was found guilty of three counts of making indecent images of children and was ordered to serve nine months of his initial suspended sentence in prison, as well as an additional nine months in prison for the latest convictions.

He must also sign the Sex Offender’s Register for a further ten years.

Investigation Officer Nikki Owen said: “The viewing of indecent images of children is a crime which causes real harm to children. Children are abused and exploited in order to make these images and are further victimised every time the images are viewed.

“Clark clearly didn’t learn his lesson from his initial conviction and I’m pleased he has now received a custodial sentence. This sends a clear message to others who think that they can get away with this type of crime, we will find you and you will be punished.

“If you have been a victim of child sexual abuse, or if you have concerns that someone you know may be at risk of abuse, please don’t hesitate to contact us.”
