Rape and sexual offence advice

Rape and sexual assault are serious crimes and reporting them is a big decision to make, but your welfare is our priority.

We are here to help if you have been raped or sexually assaulted, or if anyone you know has been a victim.

It’s important to remember that what has happened to you is not your fault and there are lots of people who can help and support you and your family.

How can the police support you?

We have a dedicated team of specially-trained officers who specialise in investigating rape and sexual assault cases, and can help provide victims with the support and care that they need.

Every rape or serious sexual assault that is reported to us will be dealt with by a dedicated officer. Your case will be handled by a specialist and you can be assigned an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA), to ensure that you are supported throughout your case.

Our officers deal with men, women, girls and boys, who have been sexually assaulted, regardless of age or sexual orientation.

In order to help you feel as comfortable as possible during the reporting process, we have male and female officers available for you to talk to.
