We will receives requests for researches, and makes disclosures of information held by the force in response to requests made by parties to family court proceedings.
These requests can be made by a solicitor acting on behalf of the parent or guardian of a child, a partner agency (such as a local authority) or anyone representing themselves in the court (a litigant in person).
The information disclosed is then used to assist the court in reaching informed decisions on cases that come before them. Very often this will involve the custody or placement of vulnerable children and is therefore of the utmost importance.
In order to apply for a disclosure, read the protocol and complete the Standard Request Form.
Charges apply when court orders are submitted by private Solicitors and litigants in person.
