The law

Unless a vehicle is specifically made for use on the road, you can only ride it on private land, with permission from the landowner.

op_meteor_logo 250x144Any vehicle will need the following documents in order to make it road-legal:

  • Driving licence (and certificate of basic training for off-road bikes)
  • Valid road tax and MOT
  • Insurance

The rider must be wearing appropriate and legal protective clothing and equipment at all times.

The Road Traffic Act can be applied if off-road vehicles are used in public places, in an anti-social way or driven carelessly.
