The Herbert Protocol is designed to prevent people with dementia going missing. It will also help our response if they do. Anyone living with dementia who is at risk of going missing can be referred to the scheme by a carer, or family or friends, by emailing us.
We will then arrange a visit to that person to complete a form full of information we can use should that person go missing. This will include places they frequent, normal routes taken, activities they enjoyed earlier in life and a current photo.
In the event they do go missing, we already have a lot of information on record which can be distributed straight away, so that we can find them as quickly as possible.
