The Government has awarded the force a Positive About Disabled People symbol, which demonstrates we have made a commitment to employing, retaining and developing the abilities of our disabled officers and staff.
We are a Stonewall Diversity Champion which highlights out commitment to ensuring we create the right working environment for our lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) officers and staff. The programme assists the organisation to ensure our culture, policies, procedures and practices are fully inclusive of our LGB staff.
The College of Policing has awarded us with a National Police Promotion Framework (NPPF) licence which enables the force to develop an officer's ability to work at sergeant or inspector level. The college also allows the force to accredit investigators on the Professionalising Investigation Programme (PIP) from levels one to four.
The force is an accredited City and Guilds Centre to progress vocational qualifications including a QCF in Policing for student officers and in Management for those on the Sergeant and Inspector promotion processes.
We hold ‘direct centre status’ with City and Guilds which means that we are subject to their quality inspections and are able to issue certificates directly.
This involves maintaining excellent standards in our assessment and verification practices along with effective management of the programmes.
