We are a small force with big opportunities. As an experienced officer, you will play a key role in policing our unique challenges: large, diverse and complex communities, an international airport and other operational issues which require us to work resourcefully to deliver results.
Whether you want to support the operational front line or have specialist skills, we have a range of opportunities to suit your skills and experience. In return you will demonstrate you have both the talent and ambition to shape our future direction.
We are the lead force for delivering services for the Eastern Region Specialist Operations Unit (ERSOU) and the Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit (CTIU).
In order to transfer to Bedfordshire Police you must:
- Have completed your two year probationary period and be a confirmed officer (this includes completing your National Diploma in Policing or equivalent)
- Be currently working within a force in England or Wales
In order to re-join as a police officer you must:
- Have been out of force for less than five years from your last day of service
- Have completed your two years’ probationary period and be a confirmed officer
Please note: we do not accept transferees from the Royal Military Police or the British Transport Police unless your particular role is transferable with the proven skills and experience of the duties you would be expected to perform within Bedfordshire Police.
If you are currently in your probation period with your current force you can apply to transfer, but you will be required to complete the 16 week IPLDP course along with the full two year probation period with the force.
If you decide not to transfer whilst in your probation period then please wait to submit an application until your probation has completed and you are a substantive officer in your current force.
