and has a dedicated unit working seven days a week to deal
with the issues.
The Missing Persons Unit provide advice and assistance to the
public, partner agencies and colleagues within Bedfordshire Police.
They also actively investigate missing persons incidents.
Advice
People go missing for a variety of reasons. The Police recognise
the distress this causes but equally have to respect the rights of
individuals who wish to separate themselves from their family
and normal life. The Police will investigate cases where
their is a risk to the missing person and the cases of
children and young people. It may be more appropriate if the person
has notified their intention to leave or contact has simply been
lost for the family to deal with the matter.
If you require advice regarding a person missing in these
circumstances please contact the Missing Person Unit in the first
instance.
Details of agencies who can assist in these cases are
provided.
