Child Abuse
Bedfordshire Police investigates all incidents of the ill
treatment of children including serious physical and sexual
assaults, emotional abuse, as well as cases of neglect.
If you are being abused or think a child is being abused, we
have a dedicated Child Abuse Investigation Unit which works in
close partnership with the local authority children’s services.
The team deals with all allegations of child abuse within
families or by people in any position of trust in relation to
children. Child protection officers receive particular training on
how to interview children and young people, balancing the gathering
of evidence with a concern for their welfare during the interview
process.
The unit also deals with cases where it is suspected that
individuals have access to indecent images of children or have been
grooming youngsters.
