Police Seek Witnesses to Suspicious Incidents
Police in Luton are asking for information from members of the public in connection with two suspicious incidents which happened in the town last week.
The first happened on Monday, March 1, at approximately 6.30pm when a 31 year old taxi driver was chased outside the Luton Community Gym in Dunstable Road by a group of Asian men, one of which attacked his car with a baseball bat.
The second incident happened the same day at 10pm when the same taxi driver reported that he had been followed and forced to pull over in Durbar Road by men in a BMW X5, a Vauxhall Corsa and a VW Sharan.
The men then attacked the taxi driver and caused head injuries which required hospital treatment.
The officer in charge of this investigation, Detective Constable Kim Willis, is keen to trace any members of the public who may have witnessed either of these incidents.
She said: “We are keeping an open mind as to the reasons behind these incidents but it is possible that other motorists or pedestrians in each area may have noticed a group of men or the registration numbers of the vehicles involved. I would urge anyone with information to contact the police and help us piece together exactly what happened on Monday and trace those responsible.”
Anyone with information about these incidents can contact DC Willis at Luton Police Station, in confidence, on 01582 394335, or text 07786 200011, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
