Houghton Regis Bottle Attack: Can YOU Help Police?

BEDFORDSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses after a young man was threatened with a bottle and robbed of his shopping in Houghton Regis.

It happened between 6pm and 6.15pm yesterday (Wed March 3) as the man and a friend, both in their 20s, walked along Dog Kennel Walk towards Houghton Regis.

They were stopped by two black men who spoke to them briefly.  A white man in his forties then approached the two friends and told them the two men had also spoken to him.

The friends reached Cemetery Road and were approached by the two men who had spoken to them earlier.  The men demanded their wallets and phones.  A third man arrived with a broken beer bottle and held it to the victim’s throat, whilst the other offenders punched his friend in the head. The victim handed over 20 pence and a bag of food.

A member of the public approached the men and the three offenders made off towards Dunstable town centre.

PC Jenny Buckley, investigating, is keen to speak to the white man in his forties who spoke to the friends before the robbery and the member of the public who assisted them.

PC Buckley, investigating, said the main offender was asian, in his early twenties and 6ft tall with black cropped hair. The two other men were black and in their early twenties.

She added:  “This was a particularly nasty offence and we are keen to speak to the men who spoke to and assisted the victims or anyone who saw someone hanging around the area.”

Anyone with information can contact PC Buckley, in confidence, on 01582 473218, the main switchboard on 01234 841212, Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or text 07786 200011.
