Dunstable Robberies Prompt Warning To Teenagers
DETECTIVES are urging teenagers to be on their guard after a robbery at knifepoint in Dunstable on Saturday (Jan 23).
It happened between 5.30pm and 6.00pm as the victim and a friend walked through Grove House Gardens in Dunstable.
The 17-year-olds were approached by three teenagers they had previously seen in the playground area of Grove House Gardens.
One of the teenagers threatened the victim with a knife, whilst the other forced him to the ground. He was then punched and kicked, during this time his Samsung mobile phone was removed from his pocket. The offenders then began to punch and kick his friend. The third member of the group stood by and watched the other two carry out the attacks. The group then left the scene with his mobile phone.
The first offender is described as white, 17-years-old, 5’ 10’’ tall with a medium build. He was wearing a grey hooded jumper.
The second offender was white, approximately 14-years-old, under 5’ tall with a slim build. He was wearing a dark Nike baseball cap.
The third was black, approximately 6’ tall and wearing a white hat with ear covers.
DS Louisa Glynn, investigating, said: “This was a particularly violent attack early on a Saturday evening where people are out and about, it is likely members of the public may have saw this happening. We want to hear from anyone who knows who was involved, recognises the offenders from the descriptions or saw something on the day.
“Young people need to be aware so they can take the appropriate precautions. That includes avoiding remote areas and carrying as few valuables as possible.”
Anyone with information about the offences can contact DS Glynn, in confidence, on 01582 473235, the main switchboard on 01234 841212, Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 11 or text to 07786 200011. Young people are advised the chances of a lost, or stolen, item being returned to its owner are much higher if they are registered at www.immobilise.com.
