Man Arrested and Gun Found in Luton
Police in Luton arrested a man and recovered hand gun after executing a search warrant at an address in Stronnell Close, Luton this morning, (Wed, Feb 17).
The dawn raid was undertaken by firearms officers and supported by officers from Luton Police Station.
The 19 year old man was arrested for breach of bail and detained on suspicion of possessing an illegal firearm. He will be questioned by officers later today and the gun will be sent for forensic examination.
Speaking after the raid, Superintendent Paul Schoon, who heads operational policing in Luton, said: “Bedfordshire Police and the people of Bedfordshire take firearms related crime extremely seriously and will not tolerate guns in our towns. With the help of the public we will continue to crackdown on criminals who use offensive weapons.
“This raid was successful because of the trust shown and information given to us by the public without whose help these operations would not be possible. With the help of the public we can rid our county of offensive weapons and reduce the small number of people affected by gun crime still further.”
