Attempted Mobile Telephone Robbery
Police in Luton are asking the public for help to trace a group of teenagers who tried to force a 14 year old student to his knees during an attempted robbery.
The incident happened in St Thomas’s Road, Luton on Friday (Feb 12) at 5.30pm as the student was walking home.
The victim was approached by the group of six males, one of which demanded he hand over his mobile telephone. The others watched as the offender then head-butted the victim in the face and tried to force him to his knees. The group then left the scene empty handed running towards Bradgers Hill.
Detective Constable Kaysie Conroy, investigating, confirmed that a 16 year old has been arrested in connection with this incident but is still keen to trace witnesses.
She said: “The victim has been left with a sore eye after this traumatic experience and we need to trace anyone who saw this incident. The area is well used during the evening and anyone who can help identify those involved can speak to the police, in complete confidence.”
Anyone with information relating to this crime can contact DC Conroy at Luton Police Station, on 01234 841212, or text information to 07786 200011, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
