Help Reduce Vehicle Crime
Police in Luton are asking motorists to take extra care when parking their vehicles after receiving 10 reports of property and car parts being stolen from vehicles in the town.
Vehicles parked in Ventnor Gardens, Verulam Gardens, Northwell Drive, Redgrave Gardens, Arrow Close, Milverton Green, Hart Lane, Crawley Green Road, Cowridge Crescent and Bracklesham Gardens have been targeted so far this month with stereos, numbers plates, bumpers and wing mirrors being taken.
Crime Reduction Officer Badrul Ahmed, would urge vehicle owners to follow some simple crime reduction tips to help keep their vehicles and property safe.
He said: “Those criminals who commit car crime often do so spontaneously when they walk by a vehicle and see either an item of clothing covering an object or a car stereo left in full view.
“There are some very simple things motorists can do to protect their property such as removing personal items from the car including satellite navigation cradles. Also car parts can be security marked with Smartwater and number plates can be fitted securely using specially designed security screws which are available from the police under the Car Accessory Protection Scheme.”
Anyone who wants to speak to a Crime Reduction Officer for advice or anyone with information about these crimes can contact Luton Police Station on 01582 394136, or text 07786 200011, or you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
