Police Seek Witnesses to Attempted Robbery
BEDFORDSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted during an attempted robbery in Houghton Regis.
It happened at 3.30pm on Friday (Feb 5) as the man in his 20s, cycled along Dog Kennel Walk towards the old railway bridge.
He was approached by two men who pulled him from his bike and punched him in the face whilst demanding money and his mobile phone.
A member of the public who was walking along Dog Kennel Walk approached the victim and the two offenders made off towards Vernon Place. The victim was left shocked and suffering from cuts and bruises.
DC Michelle Sears, investigating, is keen to speak to the member of the public who assisted the man.
The first offender was black and 5ft 11ins tall. He wore a black hooded top, dark blue jeans, a dark scarf around his face and trainers.
The second was black and approximately 5ft 9ins tall. He wore a black hooded top, white, blue and khaki army style trousers tucked into his socks and trainers.
DC Sears said: “This was a particularly nasty offence and we are keen to speak to the man who helped the victim or anyone who saw someone hanging around the area.”
