Detectives Seek Witnesses to Wigmore Assault

Detectives in Luton are appealing for two women who witnessed an assault in Wigmore Lane to come forward.

The incident happened on Monday (Feb 1) at 8.10pm when the 40 year old victim was chased and punched in the side of his head.

The victim fell to the ground and suffered a broken ankle during the assault.

The officer in charge of this investigation, Detective Constable Kim Willis, is keen to trace two women who spoke to the victim after the assault.

DC Willis said: “The two women we need to trace went help the victim and said they had watched the assault take place but they left the scene without leaving any contact details and before police arrived.

“I would reassure these women that they are not in any trouble but urge them to come forward as they may be able to help the police investigation.  I would also urge anyone else who has information relating to this assault to contact the police, in confidence.”

Anyone with information can contact DC Willis at Luton Police Station on 01582 394335, or text 07786 200011, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
