Appeal: High Value Tyres Raid
Detectives are investigating a high value burglary at the weekend at the warehouse of Universal Tyres in Dunstable.
The appeal comes from detectives who are investigating a high- value burglary between 5pm Saturday (Jan 30) and 7pm on Sunday (Jan 31) in the Dukeminister Estate of Dunstable.
A large quantity of tyres were stolen, to the value of £100,000. The majority of the stolen tyres are of the Pirelli, Michelin, Goodyear and Avon brand, and a number of tools used to replace tyres were also taken in the raid.
Offenders forced a UPVC door to gain entry into the warehouse and disable the alarm on Saturday evening. It is believed the offenders returned to the property in a large van or truck to remove the tyres hours later.
DS Louisa Glynn, investigating, said this was well planned and organised.
She is also keen to speak to anyone who recalls seeing anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the burglary, or anyone who saw an unfamiliar vehicle. A suitable vehicle and a number of people would have been needed to remove such a large number of tyres.
DS Glynn, a member of the Dunstable Crime Investigation Department said:
“Witnesses may have seen activity at the warehouse on Sunday and thought this normal. We would appeal to the public and trade to contact us if they are offered this property, or have any information that may assist with this inquiry. Our appeal is not only directed at people in Bedfordshire and neighbouring Hertfordshire, but nationwide.”
