Leighton Knifepoint Robbery – Can YOU Help?
A WOMAN was threatened with a knife before being robbed of her handbag in Leighton Buzzard.
The offence happened between 7pm and 7.10pm on Friday (Nov 13) as the victim walked along an alley off South Street towards Woodman Close.
The victim, who is in her 50s, heard footsteps behind her before she was confronted by a youth with a kitchen knife who demanded she drop her handbag and then pushed her over.
The offender grabbed the bag, which contained cash, cards and other personal items, before making off in the direction South Street and Hockliffe Street.
DC Marc Holloway, investigating, said the offender was white, aged 18 to 19, 5ft 8ins tall, slim with a thin, clean shaven face. He was wearing a light hooded top with a large pattern on the front.
He is keen to speak to anyone who saw him hanging around the area, making off or recognises him from the description. He also wants to hear from anyone who has seen the handbag, which was grey in colour with a brass buckle and Father Christmas keyring hanging from it.
He said: “Although the victim escaped with minor grazing to her hand, this was an unprovoked attack in a dark alley that has no doubt left her feeling shocked and vulnerable.
“We would reassure residents our Safer Neighbourhood Team are aware and would appeal to nearby householders, passing motorists or pedestrians, to get in contact if they recall seeing something suspicious.”
Anyone with information can contact DC Holloway, in confidence, on 01582 473055, the main switchboard on 01234 841212, Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or text to 07786 200011.
