
Transphobic Hate Incidents / Crime
Victims of transphobic hate incidents / crime can feel very vulnerable and may be reluctant to report incidents / crimes which they perceive to be committed out of prejudice or hatred because of their sexual orientation.
Confidentiality is an especially sensitive issue for trans individuals. No non-essential disclosure of their trans status or history will occur.
Bedfordshire Police has a support network of specially trained lesbian and gay liaison officers (laglos) to support victims and witnesses of homophobic and transgender hate incidents. These will work alongside trained hate crime investigators to provide a sensitive and appropriate service
We do need you to report all hate incidents / crime so that we may provide the best service to our members. No matter how trivial you think the incident / crime is, if you perceive the motivation behind the incident / crime to be your sexual orientation, please tell us about it.
