Domestic Abuse

Bedfordshire Police takes domestic violence and abuse seriously. We deal promptly and positively with any domestic incident that we attend. Wherever possible, we will arrest the person responsible for the violence and try to take action to protect you from further abuse.

Are you a victim of domestic abuse?

It is not your fault. You are not alone. There are many people who can help you.

Domestic abuse includes any incidents of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial and emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or are family members, regardless of age, sexuality or gender.

You have the right to live free from fear and intimidation.

Intimidation can be degradation, mental and verbal abuse, humiliation, deprivation, systematic criticism and belittling.

Bedfordshire police work closely with other agencies such as Victim Support and Housing in order to get you the support you need.
