Community Policing - SouthSuperintendent Gregory Horsford

Superintendent Greg Horsford was appointed as head of community policing for the south of the county, including Luton, Leighton Buzzard, Dunstable and Houghton Regis in 2017.

He’s committed to understanding the concerns of individual communities and has organised several meetings with community groups, as well as open public meetings, in order to address issues and questions from residents and to gain a better insight into the area. He has also begun visiting schools to engage with teachers and pupils alike, and is keen to improve and further relations with all our partner organisations.

He says: “I’m passionate about community policing, ensuring that where possible we provide a visible presence on the streets, deal with the issues that matter to people the most, and uphold our aims of protecting people and fighting crime.”

A number of operations are currently in place in the south of the community to help tackle key issues, including Op Meteor which addresses the problems caused by dangerous motorcyclists and Op Sentinel which aims to reduce anti-social behaviour such as on and off street sex work, drugs, and street drinking.
