Policing Pledge

Bedfordshire Police, supported by Bedfordshire Police Authority, has four aims – to make people safer, to increase feelings of safety, to improve levels of satisfaction with our service and to improve public confidence in Bedfordshire Police.  In support of these aims, we have signed up to the Policing Pledge. This sets out the service we will give you, how we will interact with you and the targets we will aspire to achieve.

In effect the Policing Pledge is an agreement between Bedfordshire Police and the public.  It gives you, as a member of the public, the knowledge of the level of service you should expect from us and it gives the force a benchmark to strive to achieve.

The Policing Pledge also aims to deepen the relationship between the public and Bedfordshire Police, giving communities a stronger voice in setting local police priorities.

In the majority of areas we already provide a level of service that meets our pledge commitment. For example, we already meet the response times to answering your 999 calls and the time required to get an officer to you in an emergency.  We have made it easier for people to find out information from our website about their Safer Neighbourhood Team, how to contact them and how to get involved (click here to visit our Neighbourhood Policing pages).  We have also introduced interactive crime maps on our website, giving residents easy access to the latest local crime information

Our Safer Neighbourhood Teams are making a real difference to communities – dealing with what you tell us are your priorities.  Anyone can get involved in setting these priorities, simply either contact a member of your Safer Neighbourhood Team, attend a meeting or drop them an email.

The Policing Pledge reinforces our intention of putting the people of Bedfordshire at the very heart of everything we do, as together we strive to make our area an even better place to live.
