Policing Pledge
Bedfordshire Police, supported by Bedfordshire Police Authority, has four aims – to make people safer, to increase feelings of safety, to improve levels of satisfaction with our service and to improve public confidence in Bedfordshire Police. The Policing Pledge was originally introduced by the Government to set police service delivery standards and monitor performance against them.
Although the Government is no longer monitoring police forces against the Policing Pledge, Bedfordshire Police is not abandoning the principles of the pledge.
Delivering the best service and customer satisfaction to the people of Bedfordshire still remains a priority for us and we will continue to strive to ensure that people feel safe, are safe, are satisfied with the level of service we provide to them and that they have confidence in us. So whilst the government has removed the Policing Pledge and will no longer be measuring our performance against it as a national target, operationally nothing has changed for us. We still want to put individuals at the heart of everything we do, treating people fairly, with dignity and respect and keeping victims informed of progress with their cases.
We are in the process of consulting the police authority as to the best way forward on how we continue to monitor and communicate our service delivery standards. Until this time and a way forward has been agreed, we will continue to keep the Policing Pledge on our website.
We will also be continuing to encourage communities and their representatives to get involved with their Safer Neighbourhood Team and help set local police priorities.
You can find out about your Safer Neighbourhood Team, how to contact them and how to get involved by visiting our Neighbourhood Policing pages. We have also introduced interactive crime maps on our website, giving residents easy access to the latest local crime information.
Our Safer Neighbourhood Teams are making a real difference to communities – dealing with what you tell us are your priorities. Anyone can get involved in setting these priorities, simply either contact a member of your Safer Neighbourhood Team, attend a meeting or drop them an email.
We are serious about putting the people of Bedfordshire at the very heart of everything we do, as together we strive to make our area an even better place to live.
