Organisational Support Update
Statement Re Outsourcing Organisational
Support Services for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and
Hertfordshire Police Forces
The Bedfordshire Hertfordshire Cambridgeshire
Joint Working Group met today (Monday 23 July) to consider a report
from the three chief constables, in which they raised concerns
regarding the ability of the Lincolnshire / G4S contract to meet
the specific needs of the BCH strategic alliance for the delivery
of organisational support services.
The Joint Working Group has four members from
each Police Authority and its role is to give initial consideration
of any strategic changes to the work of the Alliance, referring to
the home Authority when necessary.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of
recent events relating to the Olympics, with concerns being raised
regarding G4S’s ability to deliver.
Having considered the concerns raised by the
Chief Constables the group have commissioned further work to
explore the ability of the contract and contractor to meet the
specific needs of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire
.
The outcome of this work will be reported to
the Joint Working Group in mid-August.
If the Lincolnshire / G4S contract did not
prove suitable, informed by the outline business case, a
recommendation would be brought to Police Authorities to progress
the bespoke procurement of a commercial provider to deliver
organisational support services. This would be allow
incoming Police and Crime Commissioners to consider this approach
post November.
