We are recruiting police officers

Recruitment for police officers has opened today (Monday 11 September), as Bedfordshire Police continues its commitment to boosting police officer numbers in the county.

Recruitment will remain open for three weeks, closing on 1 October, and applicants are invited to complete an online application form.

After a paper sift, successful candidates will be invited to take part in a national, independent assessment that every potential recruit must attend to demonstrate they meet the standards required of police officers. Those who pass the assessment centre will then be invited to an interview. More information about the selection process is available here.

The force has recruited 156 police officers since December 2016, with the last 12 months being Bedfordshire Police’s most successful recruitment period to date. In that time the force has welcomed 96 student officers, who are now working across the county bolstering the force’s response and community teams. Another two groups, around 30 officers in total, are currently in training and will pass out later this year.

In 2018 Bedfordshire Police is hoping to recruit around 100 new police officers.
