Working for Us

The third smallest force in England and Wales, Bedfordshire Police combines a tight-knit, ‘family’ feel with the opportunity to be part of challenging police work.

Because Bedfordshire is a compact county, all policing locations are ‘close to home’. Yet there’s a variety of communities, with two major urban centres (Luton and Bedford), smaller towns (such as Biggleswade, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard), and many rural areas. We also police a busy international airport (London Luton).

This variety makes Bedfordshire an attractive place to live and work. Yet we’re only 30 miles from London, with excellent public transport links to the capital and beyond.

Whether you join us in a police or staff role, you’ll be helping to make your county a safer place. Along with great job satisfaction, you’ll benefit from camaraderie, good communications among colleagues and the clear support of senior management. Both officers and staff thrive on wide-ranging career development with excellent training and solid job security.

What’s more, we take diversity seriously. Bedfordshire is one of England’s’ most ethnically diverse counties and we want to ensure our workforce represents the communities and cultures we serve. In addition, we are a top-100 organisation in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index and have a bronze award from an Employers’ Forum for Disability benchmarking exercise.
