Chief Constable
Chief Constable Alf Hitchcock Alf
Hitchcock took over as Chief Constable of Bedfordshire Police on 4
January 2011. He has more than 30 years experience in policing
after starting his career with Lancashire Constabulary in 1977,
where he carried out a number of operational roles.
Deputy Chief Constable
John Fletcher, joined Bedfordshire Police on
the 23 June 2008 having previously been a Chief Superintendent of
Suffolk Constabulary.

Assistant Chief Constable (Local Policing & Crime)
Andrew Richer joined Bedfordshire Police in
1983 and spent the majority of his early service patrolling in
Luton.

Assistant Chief Constable (Business Change)
Katherine Govier joined Bedfordshire Police as
Assistant Chief Constable for Territorial Policing in May 2007.
Assistant Chief Officer (Business Support)
Vince Hislop joined Bedfordshire Police as
Director of Human Resources in February 2005. On 1 April 2007 he
was appointed Assistant Chief Officer (Business Support).
Local Policing
Mike Colbourne joined Northamptonshire Police
in 1993 and on 1 December he took over responsibility for the
policing services provided to the community of Luton.

Beds & Herts Collaborated Units
Andy
Street joined Northamptonshire Police in 1982 after a short
career in Local Government, Finance.
In December 2005 he transferred to Bedfordshire as
Superintendent of Operations at Dunstable and in April 2011 became
Head of Beds & Herts Collaborated Units.
Head of Crime
In June 2008 Clare Simon was promoted to Divisional
Commander for K Division, which was responsible for Criminal
Justice, Contact Management, Community Safety, Crime Reduction,
Crime Investigation Service Improvement, the Strategic Drugs Unit,
Customer Service, Diversity and Inclusion, Public Protection
Unit and the Drug Intervention Programme. In April 2011 she
became Head of Crime.
